SUMMARY:Adult Community of Practice: CSBD—Core Competencies for Assessment and Treatment
DESCRIPTION:Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD) remains one of the most debated and misunderstood constructs in clinical and forensic practice yet it continues to be a meaningful factor in both the onset and maintenance of sexually harmful behavior. With CSBD now formally included in the ICD-11\, professionals are increasingly expected to assess and respond to it with clarity\, consistency\, and evidence-informed strategies. This Adult Community of Practice is an interactive\, discussion-driven session focused on questions\, clinical "stuck points\," and practice-based learning related to CSBD assessment and treatment\, particularly in work with individuals convicted of sexual offenses. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and reflections as we explore best practices\, measurement challenges\, and treatment considerations in a supportive learning environment. This session will also explore common complications in CSBD work\, including ongoing disagreements in theory and conceptualization\, as well as the limitations and inconsistencies within existing measurement tools.PresenterDrew Kingston\, PhDDr. Kingston is a psychologist and internationally recognized trainer and researcher whose work focuses on compulsive sexual behavior\, atypical sexual interests\, and sexual offending. He has published 65+ peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and regularly consults and delivers training on forensic and correctional assessment and treatment.
