Clinical supervision is a vital component of providing evidence-based and ethical practice, especially for mental health providers working in forensic environments where unique challenges frequently arise. This training will highlight the specific responsibilities associated with supervision in a forensic setting, including managing risk, navigating dual roles, maintaining ethical boundaries, and supporting supervisees who work with high-risk or justice-involved populations.

Participants will explore evidence-based supervision models, trauma-informed approaches, and culturally responsive practices for supervising within forensic contexts.

Through a combination of instruction, case examples, and interactive discussion, participants will:

Gain an understanding of the supervisory role in forensic environments.

Examine the legal and ethical complexities of supervision.

Develop strategies for enhancing supervisee competence, clinical decision-making, and overall professional resilience.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

Describe the role and purpose of clinical supervision within forensic settings.

Identify at least three unique ethical challenges and responsibilities associated with supervision in forensic contexts.
