Dr. Jerry D. Smith Jr., PsyD is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with nearly two decades of experience specializing in the assessment and treatment of individuals who have engaged in sexually abusive behavior. His work spans correctional, military, and community-based settings, where he has conducted comprehensive risk assessments, psychosexual evaluations, and competency-to-stand-trial determinations for both adult and adolescent populations.
Dr. Smith’s clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, integrating cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care. He is experienced in utilizing structured assessment tools such as the Static-99R, Stable-2007, and ACUTE-2007, among others, to inform treatment planning and risk management. He has also provided consultation to legal teams on psychological aspects of sexual offense cases.
Currently practicing in Okinawa, Japan under SOFA status with the U.S. military, Dr. Smith continues to provide specialized services to justice-involved individuals while also training clinicians in forensic evaluation and culturally responsive care.
