Working with Immigrants and Asylum Seekers: Clinical Approaches in Assessment

Description

This training explores key considerations for professionals working with immigrants and asylum seekers. Topics include voluntary vs. involuntary migration, the impact of pre- and post-migration experiences on resettlement, and the physical and mental health challenges faced by newcomers. The session also addresses gender-based violence and intrafamilial sexual abuse in these populations.

Participants will gain insights into effective assessment and case formulation, including the importance of multi-level, culturally responsive interventions. Practical tools—such as sample assessment questions and strategies for working with interpreters—will be provided to support real-world application.
