LICENSED CLINICAL SUPERVISOR - St. Charles, IL or Chicago, IL
A licensed clinical supervisor oversees and supports therapists’ development in the practice. This role involves ensuring quality care, providing guidance, and fostering professional clinical development among staff. Supervision is not just a legal requirement for licensure. Therapy supervision is a valuable relationship that can improve a therapist’s long-term skills. Good supervisors are mentors, encouragers, and educators all rolled into one. Responsibilities include:
Clinical Oversight
- Review and discuss client cases and treatment plans
- Monitoring legal and ethical issues and ensure compliance with standards.
- Providing formal evaluations and documentation
- Review and approve periodic and monthly progress reports and soap notes
- Counsel individuals and group therapy
- Participate in case conferences
Supervision and Training
- Conduct regular weekly supervision sessions with therapists.
- Provide training and guidance with therapeutic techniques and interventions.
- Offering emotional support and preventing burnout
- Helping supervisees navigate licensure requirements
Quality Improvement
- Monitor client outcomes and satisfaction.
- Implement policies to enhance service delivery.
- Evaluate clients to determine their needs and the appropriate support options
Other
- Refer clients to community resources to help their specific situations
- Collaborate with other care providers to coordinate services
- Collaborate with criminal justice agencies, community organizations, and other service providers to coordinate and ensure the delivery of effective services
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Stay informed of current developments in the field of forensic clinical work and attend training and continuing education opportunities to maintain professional competency
Qualifications:
- Master's or doctoral degree in mental health (psychology, counseling, social work, or similar disciplines) from an accredited institution
- Licensed as a LCPC, LCSW, or clinical psychologist in the state in Illinois (required)
- Licensed as LSOTP (preferred)
- Minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory role and five years as a mental health professional
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, forensic mental health, and substance abuse treatment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with staff and clients
- Empathy and emotional intelligence
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Organizational and case management skills
- Ability to collaborate and work well as part of a team
- Commitment to cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations
